When the majority of people think of Colombia, only a few things come to mind.
The majority of the time it will either be recognized for it's great flavorful richcrispy coffee or unfortunately it may be renowned for being one of the largest exporters or producers of cocaine. Even though both of these facts may hold to be true, Colombia is made up or should beknow for more than just two facts. It's is the people, the climate, the culture, the vibrating ground-shaking music, it's geography, it's roots, the food, and the many trends that make Colombia a uniqueplace in the whole world. One place that could especially sum up Colombia's true beauty would be it's “Golden Gate” Caribbean-city of Barranquilla.
Located at it's complete north and in theAtlantico State. Barranquillans aside from being heavy coffee drinkers, they are also recognized from being the happiest and the heaviest “Rumberos” or Night Owls. Home of the talented rock and pop-musicartist Shakira, Emmy nominated actress and comedian Sofia Vergara, and the very own Giants baseball home-runner Edgar Renteria. Barranquillans may well be knowing how to rock a party and also for beinggreat achievers.
One of Barranquillas biggest year round commitments would be the second largest carnival in the world, “El Carnaval de Barranquilla”. This once-a-year huge party is celebrated bymost of the people that live in Barranquilla. This is where Venetian-mask carnival meets Brazilian-samba carnival and many people from Europe, South America, and around the world visit the beautifulcity to celebrate the new sounds of music that have emerge since the beginning of early Colombia’s establishment.
