Procedure • Divide students into pairs and tell them which is student A and which is student B. Give worksheet A to students Aand worksheet B to students B. Tell them not to show their worksheet to their partner • Tell students they are going to describe the people, objects and places on their worksheets and their partner hasto guess the missing words. Demonstrate this task to the whole class using an open pair for the first one or two words. Allow about 10 minutes for the task. You can write sentence stems on the boardto remind students of the structures used to define: people: objects: places: • A …. is a person who/that …. A ….. is a thing which/that …. A …… is a place where ….

Monitor and assist with anyproblems students have with describing the words on their worksheets. • The teacher can round off by asking which words were easy to guess and which were more difficult. Possible extension activity:students look back in their Wordstore notebooks and choose 1 or 2 words for each category of people, objects and places. Students write definitions and ‘test the class’.
