The detective GuillermolSomerset, after twenty-three years of policeman's work he needs his retirement. David Mills on the contrary, only can´t wait to give everything to fight the crime. While theywork, they really can´t put in agreement and are not satisfied, Mills is too impatient and Somerset is too obstinate.
The two men have to investigate a particularly gruesome murder, in which a fatman was tied to his hand and feet and was forced to eat until he burst open. The killer had written 'gluttony' on the wall and he uses this to 'preach' gluttony, one of the seven deadly sins.
Somersetand Mills investigate other murders that imply greed, sloth, lust, pride, envy and wrath, these are the rest of seven mortal sins. In every case, the method of murder is adapted and disgusting.
Thisserial killer is smart and intelligent. He wants to preach to the public about the Seven Deadly sins. But instead of preaching in the church, he kills the people.
Somerset feels that the killeruses books as the inspiration for his crimes and in the library they gave him the list with all the persons who had given a book of seven cardinal sins.
Somerset verifies that the killer is John Doe andhe says that even two homicides. Mills discovers that Tracy (his wife) had been the las homicide of Doe and Mills shoots Doe up to killing him.
