Science 9 Project Choices About Space
1. Create a storyboard with brief text describing how the earth came to be starting with the big bang to quasars to galaxies, supernovae, nebulas, our solarsystem, the earth, life on earth and the death of our sun. The storyboard should be able to be displayed in the classroom.
2. Give a powerpoint on how we are looking for planets in other solarsystems and what we have found so far. The above criteria can be used as a rough guide. Link to a short video (5 min max).
3. Give a powerpoint on the history of comets and asteroids that havecome near or impacted earth and research the current search for comets and asteroids that may collide with the earth. Where do they come from? How are we looking for them? How many have we found?Link to a short video.
4. Give a powerpoint on the most likely places that we might find life in our solar system? Link to a short video.
5. Design a space probe or telescope that will study anyobject in space that you wish. Include the instruments that it will carry and why. Explain why the data you are looking for are important or interesting. You will build a model of your probe.This should be accompanied by a poster or powerpoint describing your object of study and past exploration.
6. Give a powerpoint on any planet, dwarf planet or moon and including the history of ourknowledge of that body. You should include ancient beliefs of the body, information learned from telescopes and a description of the different probes that went there and what each found out. Youshould also include all current or future missions and their purposes. Link to a short video.
