Pope Paul the 6th stated, “No one now can escape the influence of advertising.” Good morning, my name is Sheila Mejia; Im 28 years old and Ive been working as an advertising manager for 5 years. Iwork for the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, which is the second-largest tobacco company in the U.S. ♥ This job is part of the business industry. I was motivated to enter this profession because I waslooking for a creative, dynamic, and passionate job. Something that would stand me apart from the crowd. ♥During a typical work day, I spend time negotiating agreements, ♥managing the development ofsales materials, ♥and typing mostly. ♥The projected job outlook is increasing right now, and is expected to increase even more by 12 percent through 2016. ♥Even though some people may see advertising asharmful, other see it as mostly beneficial. This profession contributes to society by informing people about the availability of products and services.♥ My preparation for this career includingattending to Helix Charter High School, where I chose the advertising major. Three key classes I took at Helix that prepared me for this career were marketing, business English, and accounting. ♥Myparticipation in extracurricular activities such as having a job while going to school, further helped me by being responsible.♥ Furthermore, I completed volunteer hours by joining the Key Club, which helpedme by considering others better than myself. After high school, I completed a total of four years of education. ♥ I attended The Academy of Art in San Francisco for 4 years. I majored in advertisingand earned my advertising degree. Three key classes that I completed in college were Advertising art, Copywriting, and Art Direction. ♥During my day, I serve media services departments by negotiatingagreements.♥ Important skills needed in my profession are active listening, good judgment, and reading comprehension. ♥
