Forbbiden City
We chose this city because we were surprised to see different pictures that came up while we were searching the net. After investigating everything about this city, we realized it wasquite interesting as it has a very good story and good religious and cultural characteristics.
The Forbidden City was the Chinese imperial palace from the Ming Dynasty to the end of the QingDynasty. It is located in the middle of Beijing, China. For almost 500 years, it served as the home of emperors and their households, as well as the ceremonial and political center of Chinese government.Description
The Forbidden City a huge city in which many people live… is rectangle 961 metres (3,153 ft) from north to south and 753 metres (2,470 ft) from east to west. It consists of 980surviving buildings with 8,886 bays of rooms; however this figure does not include antechambers. Another common figure points to 9,999 rooms including various antechambers. The Forbidden City wasdesigned to be the centre of the ancient, walled city of Beijing. It is enclosed in a larger, walled area called the Imperial City. The Imperial City is, in turn, enclosed by the Inner City; to its southlays the Outer City.
Researchers now believe that the axis was designed in the Yuan Dynasty to be aligned with Landau, the other capital of their empire.
The city is protected by walls anddoors, the wall is 9 feet high, and a pit full of water 52 meters deep.

During the Ming dynasties, it was recorded that there were nine thousand maids and as many as seventythousand Eunuchs serving the Emperors. The royal 'chop' was administered to the Eunuchs at the Eunuch Clinic near to the Forbidden City, by using a swift knife and a special chair with a hole in the seat.The people applying for the position of Court Eunuch were attempting to better their lives sadly, half of them died during the 'operation'.
