Statement of Purpose

Applicant’s name: Teodoro Burgos

I have been working at a maritime container terminal (DP World) for two years, there I entered to the to the exciting world ofterminals operations. In that active and real-world working environment, my understanding regarding operations management, supervision and industrial safety has taken off. Nevertheless, there is still a lotof knowledge to acquire for coming up with and implement better solutions to the problems that I face every day.

The Master of Engineering in Industrial Engineering (EIEG) program can helpme to develop my skills in the areas that I want, to the levels I have to. Furthermore, earning the degree increases my career opportunities at higher levels of responsibility and remuneration witchis one professional objective. Also, it prepares me for a professorship in operations research or system management witch is one of my long-range objectives.

I have some teaching experience, Iworked as English teacher for a long time. When I was an student I loved to study with my friends because it fosters me to be better. From this manner of being I live a very grateful experience, Iassist Ariel Villalba, who is an industrial engineering (IE) student witch has some features of autism spectrum disorders (ASD). This experience has increased my patience and perseverance, now he is inthe last step of his studies, the capstone course, and his work is going to be related to my actual job. My participation in a course of human develop index of the United Nations Development Programme(UNDP) and the book Ethics for Amador has formed my believe that people, not matter who they are, should have the opportunity of being what they want.

At DP World I reaffirm my love to IE,there I work in projects related to operations research. I create a linear programming model for optimizing the distributions of the trucks to each point of work considering the kind of work to do...
