Is a Finnish–Swedish pulp and paper manufacturer, formed by the merger of Swedish mining and forestry products company Stora and Finnish forestry products companyEnso-Gutzeit Oy in 1998[1]. Is the world’s oldest limited company that has operated uninterruptedly since its founding. With a history that goes back over 700 years, has one of the most interesting corporatestories around.

Stora Enso is the #1 producer of newsprint and sawn softwood timber in Europe and is a global leader in the production of a wide range of paper and wood products, such asmagazine paper, newsprint, fine papers, packaging boards, and sawn timber. The company also manufactures graphic products, office papers, and wallpaper base. The majority of the company's customers are inEurope[2].

History of Stora Enso

Stora Enso is a young company, only a few years old, but it roots go back a very long way. Stora Enso was formed in 1998 by the merger of Swedish miningand forestry products company Stora and Finnish forestry products company Enso-Gutzeit Oy in 1998. In line with this, Stora Enso expanded its operations by acquiring wood products businesses andbought paper merchant businesses in Europe. In 2000 the company bought Consolidated Papers in North America. Stora Enso also slowly expanded its operations in South America, Asia and Russia.

. Thestrategic cision was to make a global Stora Enso the world’s leading forest products company and to have a strong presence in three continents: Europe, Asia, North and South America. Divisionally theGroup decided to focus on three core business areas: publication paper, fine paper and packaging board. According to this strategy Stora Enso launched its Asset Restructuring Programme (ARP) 2002,followed by the profit 2007 and Asset Performance Review (APR) programmes in April.
