Pompey the great

1: The pirates are taking over the coasts of Italy because there’s no a general. The governors have someone in mind that is Pompey. The people had great confidence in Pompey .Thepeople said that his the only one who can take the Mediterranean pirates down , and demanded that he should be send to do the work. Pompey made himself famous as a soldier in wars since he was achild .The people agree that Pompey will be the general. So he gathered 14 powerful fleets. He kept one of those 14 for himself and the others in hands of good officers. The pirates got in the trap ofPompey.

2: When the war was finished Pompey went to Asia several years, there he won many great victories, and he also conquered many countries and put Roman government to them. When he went back toRome he brought kings and princes as prisoners and much gold and silver and many other valuable things to enrich himself and the republic. But Pompey now wanted to make himself the master of Romeduring his life-time. Pompey was elected again for been consul , but he wanted more power so he started to make good things and giving to the people valuable things , so he start having more power. Onething that Pompey give to the people was the first theater was the people went to see fights. Later Pompey started been more popular in Rome.

3: In that time Rome had a big territory, as: allItaly, Greece, Spain, Syria, Egypt, Turkey, Switzerland and parts of France and Germany. Rome had a population of half a million. It also had a large area including the famous 7 hills. In that time therewere many rich people, most of them obtain great part of their money conquered countries, so they lived in a very magnificent manner, and they give very good dinners and entertainments, and hadhundreds of slaves. Some slaves were a large class who were brought to Rome from conquered countries. There were markets that slaves were sold, so they put the slaves on a platform so the people could see...
