Production strategy
Refer to the utilization of linguistic knowledge in communication. They differ from communication strategies inthat they do not imply any communication problem and in that they are generally used without conscious awareness.

Immersion
An approach to the teaching of language in which students are taught their regular school subjects such as science, history, and math through the target language.

Foreign Language

Socio-Linguistic Competence
Sociolinguistic competence is the ability to interpret thesocial meaning of the choice of linguistic varieties and to use language with the appropriate social meaning for the communication situation.
Example
When greeting someone in a very formal situation anAmerican might say, Hello, how are you? or Nice to see you again, but if he were meeting a friend in an informal situation it would be much more appropriate to say Hi, or Hey, whatcha been doing?Reference
