Advertising. It’s just so obvious. It’s a little annoying, but it’s nothing more than an interruption. Or is it?

What if the messages we’re activelyattempting to tune out, are actually bombarding us with images and ideas that affect the most unsuspecting place within our minds — our subconscious? That’s exactly what may be happening.

Whatare subliminal messages?
Merriam Webster defines subliminal  as: existing or functioning below the threshold of consciousness. This basically means that the words, images or sounds we process with oursubliminal minds are not identified or recognized by our conscious minds.
Why is this so important? Because many times our subliminal minds compel us to take action when it comes time to make apurchase — even if we don’t consciously know why a certain product or service is suddenly so appealing.

Subliminal messages could be delivered by way of an image or word flashed for a millisecond on ascreen, audio played in the background (in forward or reverse speech), or images or words hidden within a scene or ad we’re viewing that we aren’t consciously aware of seeing.

When am I exposedto subliminal messages?
When you plop onto your cozy couch or chair and flip on the tv, it only takes a few moments before you’re feeling relaxed (unless you’re watching the news). It’s said by somepsychologists that after several minutes of watching tv, we slip into a heightened state of suggestibility similar to a state of hypnosis.
You may even feel the same sense of relaxation whileflipping through your favorite magazines. And what about when you’re surfing your favorite websites, or listening to the radio?
