SUBSISTEMA ESTRUCTURAL
Los vehículos espaciales, aunque con aparente semejanza, cuentan con ciertas variables de acuerdo a la misión para la que es puesto en órbita, hecho que a suvez determina el diseño de los mismos en cuanto a control, estructura, carga útil, etcétera.
De este modo, un satélite se compone, entre otras, de subsistemas esenciales que seencargan de su acondicionamiento y mantenimiento.
Estructura
The Structural Subsystem provides the framework for mounting the other satellite’s subsystems as well as the interface withthe launch vehicle. It must meet the payload volume and weight constraints of the launch vehicle as well as provide access for installation and maintenance of the other subsystems. Italso provides physical protection during ground handling, transportation, launch, and in-orbit operations. The structure must therefore be very light, yet strong enough to survive theaccelerations of launch and stiff enough to avoid transferring vibrations from the launch vehicle and any attitudinal control manoeuvres. Materials such as aluminium, beryllium, magnesium,stainless steel, titanium, and carbon-fibre-reinforced plastics are commonly used.
The structural subsystem also provides support to mount the platform’s radiation shield, as well asthrusters, and thermal control elements such as radiators, insulation blankets, and louvres. It must be able to provide protection against micro-meteorites. The shape of the structure mustalso support the location of attitude sensors, communications and antennas without disturbing their fields of view.
In general terms, objectives of the structure subsystem are:
1.Ensuring housing of all the components of the satellite.
2. Protecting the components from all mechanical loads during launch and flight.
3. Helping in the System Testing and Integration
