SUMMARY

Chapter 1. DAWN IN BANGKOK
Hu was seventeen and a good student. She studied at the Bangkok Internacional Academy, an international school for the children of foreign people working in Thailand. It was expensive, but the Chinese oil company, where her father worked, helped her family to pay for her education.
Hu liked to work hard, but she was worried about her studies, about herEnglish exam. Today Mr Stanyer, her English teacher, would give out the results of last term’s English test.

Chapter 2. NEW TERM, OLD FRIENDS
Hu walked up the narrow Soi to school. She felt happy and excited. The early morning sun was bright. It almost hurt her eyes. It was cool and the skies were blue and clean.
The school principal, Mr Grisman, walked onto the stage and raised his hand to tellthe whole school to be quiet and listen. He was tall and had grey hair. He was wearing dark clothes and a very serious expression. Hu thought he looked silly. He started at them importantly until there was silence, and then he smiled.

Chapter 3. SHARING TROUBLES
Her English teacher, Mr Stanyer, who says she cannot be entered for the International Baccalaureate unless her English gradesimprove. She dare not tell her parents, whose ambition is for her to be a doctor, so she agrees to pay Mr Stanyer for private lessons, although she cannot understand her poor grades. She uses her savings and sells a ring given to her by an aunt.

Chapter 4. TO BE A STAR
Hu makes friends with a new American student, John Truman, whose mother is Head of the Upper School. She also becomes involved inthe school show, The Wizard of Oz taking the leading role of Dorothy.
Chapter 5 . MONEY WORRIES
There is drama during a school trip to Khao Yai National Park, when Hu and her friends become lost. They are eventually restored to safety. During the trip Hu learns from one of her friends that Mr Stanyer has been blackmailing other girls too, usually those with wealthy parents.

Chapter 6. LESSONSIN DISAPPOINTMENT
Back at school, Hu becomes very anxious and her parents eventually discover about the extra lessons. A meeting is held with the headmaster and a school counsellor but no-one believes Hu. John’s mother, Verity Truman, however, supports Hu’s story and begins an investigation into Mr Stanyer’s background. She uncovers his corruption – he lied about his qualifications and has nodegree, he has got an entry visa into Thailand by deception, and he has been marking students down in order to get them to pay for extra lessons.
Chapter 7. OF RINGS AND LIES
Hu search the manner of get money and think that if her father pay a travel in china so as to see her family, their help her economically. Hu has stolen a ring and while she stay have class two agents of police take Hu, butall was a dream. Hu was sold a ring that giver her aunt. Seize is as Hu got money for pay her extra lessons.

Chapter 8. A PROUD FATHER
Mr. Stayer suggests Hu go to his floor, but she don't want. Hu's father want pay a travel because she go to study biology. Hu is worried because don't know how pay the extra English lessons. Her father say her that she have save money. She live in floor in themiddle of Bangkok, because her father is a important businessman. Hu intend search work but she don't find. Marwa bring books in Hu's house.

Chapter 9. LOSING THE RIGHT PATH
Hu and her friend stay in a park. Sean, one friend, do a joke to his friends, he say that break her neck and have a snake a side his. Hu's father want that she have English lessons but she don't know well. Her teacherEnglish, propose to Hu have extra lessons, but she don't have money for pay this lessons.

Chapter 10. TOWARDS THE TRUTH
The group lose in the forest. They search one road that carry come back to his home. John is a frind of Hu and he help her with her problem by Mr Stayer, her teacher english. John notify the porter of school because he take with Hu about the prblem with Mr Stayer, and he so do....
