Summary Of The Yellow Wallpaper

SUMMARY OF THE YELLOW WALLPAPER:
The main character has having a post-partum depression. This fact causes her, her husband and their nanny have to move to a country house with the object of havingsome resting for her, because he’s physician and thinks that’s the only way for getting the mental health she needs.
She’s opposite of this idea, because she thinks the only way of having her ownrecovery is making creative activities like to write her own diary or going outside to discover new places (because she’s a very inventive person) but she finds her tries frustrated with him because ofhis strict mind.
Her boredom takes her to an obsession with the yellow wallpaper which wraps the wall of her bedroom and she begins to see strange figures and abstract forms even the figure of a womanthat every midnight tries to escape from bars which have her caught inside the horrible composition.
Such is the lack of stimulation in her diary life that she start to having deliriums with theforms and losing her reason even she start to think John and the nanny are hiding her some information about the mysterium of the wallpaper and the caught woman that can’t find the freedom outside.Finally, in a fit of madness she decides to pull out all the wallpaper from the wall so that in this way, she can release the woman from the bars inside the wallpaper who basically is a reflect of herself.John catch her red-handed and he faints.
PERSONAL OPINION:
I think this story is a report /critic of the traditionalist and strict mind of the society that was chasing to the women of the nineteencentury.
This story is based on a true situation lived by the author who recognized getting her mental health thanks to her own willpower in spite of all treatments that were imposed to her by thedoctors.
