Superstition and belief

Páginas: 2 (269 palabras) Publicado: 20 de marzo de 2012
Humans have always had different beliefs according to how they were brought up. Some might be regarding deities, while some others could be simplesuperstitions about good and bad luck. Most of these were made up a long time ago to explain things that could not be understood at the time, like therain, or a lightning hitting the ground.

Beliefs are what we think is true, it can be based on evidence, or it can be based on faith. Humanity, being a species with consciousness, wonders about everything that is not known. That gives birth to beliefs about our origin, the origin of life as wellas many other things.

Superstitions are very big on some people, who believe that walking under a ladder, or seeing a black cat can bring badluck, but some people don’t believe in this as well. Most of the things we believe in are embedded in our brains by our parents as we are growing up.Religion is also part of this, as every culture has developed a different set of gods, which have given them a reason to do things, as well as rulesto follow in order to not be punished, or to have a better afterlife. All this is mostly developed by fear of death and other bad things.

Astime passes and we make new scientific discoveries explaining the things people would explain superstitiously we can get further away from useless, andsometimes maybe even dangerous thoughts, although lots of times people will not agree to change the way they think, even if is an outdated dogma.
