Since 1997 the leaning for coffee consumption and the Soledad Hanna’s ability to prepare desserts gave rise to “Sweet & Coffee”, an important Ecuadorian cafeteria now ready to get out of the country as a franchiseinto Lima-Peru.
The idea to create this cafeteria starts when Soledad and her boyfriend Richard were dating, she pretended love him by preparing sweets. She was a fan of desserts for this reason Soledad inherited her grandmother's recipe for Strawberry Cheesecake that drove him crazy. "... So I was gaining slowly," she says, Richard Peet laughs while looking his wife, Soledad Hanna. "He said me whydo not sell it, I have never tasted a cheesecake so delicious" she confesses.
What began as detail of love between Richard and Soledad is now a successful chain of coffee shops whose name sells itself: “Sweet & Coffee”. It is a perfect combination of sweets and coffee, within a nice environment which invites us to chat, to do business or make friends while tasting a steaming cup of cappuccino andenjoying a dessert homemade style.
S&C was the project both raised when working together in a banking institution, in which met and fell in love. The opportunity to achieve it became with the opening of the shopping center Mall del Sol, they were proposed to work in. “So we grown-up well the idea to create sweetmeats and other product that was just as strong and not a complement" Richardrecalls.
At that time the coffee was consumed frequently at hotels and restaurants, but there was not a culture of take one outside home. In other countries, however, began as a strong trend. "Then we thought that coffee and sweets were a good alternative and we join together them and create the concept". After that came the name, also a creation of them, and logo design was done by a friend in common.Besides this, Soledad Hanna and Richard Peet, now married with three children, became S&C a big coffee chain of three types: independent, food courts and on islands, most installed in shopping centers and an average investment more than $ 50 000.
Not satisfied with this market position, for the past 5 years S&C came to the racks of major supermarket chains of Ecuador with a mix of specialtycoffee to go, monthly represent five tons of product commercialized.
However, the achievement and the best evidence of success of this couple with their firm Sweet & Coffee was 4 years ago when they opened the largest cafeteria of the 21 it owns in Guayaquil and Quito, where were spent around $ 150 000 dollars, this place invited to those people who want to share a coffee with snacks and to chat intoa more comfortable and spacious place.
S&C has the perfect combination, the conventional with the welcoming and modern technology, then the guests not only enjoy the menu of salt and sweet, prices ranging from 50 ¢ to $ 3, but also you can surf in the Internet via Wi-Fi. A similar pride and little modesty is reflected in its husband. Where once had a customer base of 5 people a month now, witheight locations in Quito and thirteen in Guayaquil, serving more than 300 000 customers.
