My name is Priscila Lucía Rodríguez García, I live in a small town called Navojoa in the state of Sonora, México; my city Navojoa is a very small compared with other cities of Mexico and the world. I live with both of my parents, my sister and my mother’s aunt, they are really supportive in every decision I make, but I haven’t told them I apply for this program. I am a very introverted person butI really enjoy spending time with other people. My philosophy in life is “think big, and not only in what is possible but also what is impossible”, I know someday this way of thinking that I have is going to lead me towards being a very good and successful person. In school I am not the person with the best grades but I really like learning, I am not a person with a lot of friends, but the ones Ihave are really great, in my school I practiced sports like basketball and soccer, I participate in some mathematics contest and in a science rally with a group of students of my school, by the way we win second place in the whole state. I am not a person with really big achievements but I never give up, and I know someday I am going to make my family and friends really proud.
About the Ship forworld Youth program, I knowledge about it in Facebook, it was a really big coincides that I saw the add, because I am not usually the person that spends that much of time in facebook, once I saw the add I started reading what the program was about and I thought that it was a really big and great opportunities so I decided to apply and try to be a part of the program, I am sure that is going to bea really high amount of persons that are going to apply for this but I don’t have anything to lose and it won’t harm me so I am going to try. I think is really amazing, and is a great opportunity for everybody and I think is the great, because everybody can apply and try to be a part of this amazing program. I am sure that these kinds of experiences are unforgettable and they give you a reallybig amount of knowledge and respect for other cultures.
The reasons of why i want to be a part of this program are a lot but the most important are that I would love to learn about other cultures and socialize with other kind of people that the ones I usually do, because in this part of the country I live in, there is not much diversity of cultures, and you don’t get to learn about other traditionsand practices that other cultures have; another reason is that I really want to let people know that opportunities are available for everybody, and that an ordinary small town girl like me can do and achieve things that most of the people believe that are impossible, I want to make know that people with low-income can make thing happen, and enjoy of amazing experiences and opportunities like thisone; also I want to make proud and happy all the persons that are a part of my life, from my parents to all the persons I know here in my home city; I want to prove to myself that “impossible” is possible, because I am not the kind of persons that have done much in their life but I know I can be somebody and I can let a mark in the world, and I know someday I will make it happened; I want toimprove my English skills by practicing with other people and I might help them with their Spanish skills.
Those are the main reasons of why I want to join the program, obviously there are other less important reasons, for example I want to join the program because I would love to know more parts of the world, because Mexico and United States are the only countries I have ever been in,and one of mydreams in life is traveling around the world; another reason is that I would love to get on a plane and on a ship, because those experiences at this moment of my life are really out of my league, and who wouldn’t love to live this experiences; and finally another reason is that I want to travel and distract myself from the stress and troubles I have here in my home town, just for a moment and be...
