Benefits of Immigration
Immigration is not something that started yesterday; it has been going on for as long as people have inhabited Earth. Some countries receive more immigrants than others and it used to depend on whether there was war or not. After World War I, many people moved from Europe into the United States. Everyone was looking for peace in places where they could establish and starta family. The United States became such a reference place of where to go, that it was soon referred to as the “melting pot.” Immigration can affect politics, economies, and social encounters. It is also very important to keep immigration in mind because it can bring joy and help nations; however, having too many immigrants can have devastating effects. Immigration is good for the world and itshould be allowed everywhere.
One of the best things immigration brings to the table is the amount of cultural diversity that comes along with it. Without immigration it would be harder to get to know other cultures because the only other way would be through traveling; however, not everyone can afford to travel around the world. United States has always being a country known for its high rates ofimmigration and its diversity; these facts did not stop it from becoming one of the world’s top countries. If it was not for immigration, the US would not be same country. Many of the technological advances that the country has to offer come from companies that were created overseas and brought to America as an expansion method. For instance, the company Sony was firstly created in Japan and thenexpanded to various other countries including the US. Sony’s market in the US is of extreme importance because of the high sales rates. Most Americans tend to use Vaio computers which Sony fabricates. Other very common items from Sony are televisions, radios, and speakers. If one goes to New York, in Broadway most of the huge screens that are on the outside of the buildings were created by Sony. Thanks to a company like Sony, Americans are able to enjoy in first hand some of the best quality screens in the world and it is all thanks to the Japanese immigrants that brought the company to America.
When people move from one country to another, they tend to bring with them their values, culture, and traditions in order to feel as close to their country as possible. For instance, if an Italianfamily decides to move to USA, they will bring their Italians traditions such as eating pasta, pizza, and other practices. By doing this they will share their traditions with their American friends and then the tradition will go on and on from family to family. The same thing could happen with jewelry, art, clothes, and a variety of other things. As immigrants bring their traditions with them towherever they go, the world gets a chance of getting to know something different that they may have not been accustomed to or even heard of. This example could also be magnified to companies that immigrate to the US. Many foreign inventions have had major contributions to the US and the world; however, one in specific has had a tremendous impact: the World Wide Web. The World Wide Web (WWW) wascreated by Sir Tim Berners-Lee, a British computer scientist who shortly after inventing the WWW moved to the US. So far, one of his most remarkable experiences in the US is that he taught at MIT. However, thanks to his invention along with the invention of servers everyone is able to communicate, research, share experiences, and other great things that people can do through the web. Since hisinvention of the WWW he created an organization called the World Wide Web Consortium, which manages most of the servers and makes sure the web is always running.
According to Dalmia, the number of immigrants is so high in the southwest region of the country that even the politics have been affected. For instance, in the recent elections senator Harry Reid “proposed the DREAM Act, which would have...
