Today in the world five million of persons die each year caused by prolonged smoking. Smoking and secondhand smoke kill more people than SIDA, alcohol and drugs, car crashes, murders,suicides and fires combined. The principal responsible of this is the cigarette.
The most important component of the cigarettes is the tobacco.
Tobacco is an agricultural crop, used to make cigarettes. Itis grown all over the world and supports a billion-dollar industry. The principal ingredient is nicotine, a nervous system stimulant very dangerous, but also has more than 4.000 chemicals of which2.000 are known to be toxic.
Some of these ingredients are
Arsenic: poison contained in the raticides.
Ammoniac: component of the products of cleanliness.
Carbon monoxide: Present in the smoke ofthe cars.
Acetone, toluene: industrial solvent.
Tar: dark and sticky substance entrusted to take the nicotine and other chemical products of the tobacco up to our lungs.
Nicotine: responsible of theaddiction to the tobacco.

What are the risk?
The most important risk is the addiction. Nicotine, the main chemical in tobacco, is highly addictive, it is just as addictive as heroine or cocaine.-Cancer: cancer of the lungs, mouth, throat, esophagus and more.
-Frequent colds.
-Chronic bronchitis.
-Smoking clogs the arteries and causes heart attacks and strokes.
- Smoking may reduce theblood flow and causes impotence.

Other negative aspects are:
-Stained teeth.
-Bad breath.
-Clothes, hair, hands, room and car reek of smoke.
-Premature face wrinkles.
-Diminished sense of tasteand smell.
