Tajin a pre-Hispanic city of about 1.221 hectares, located in a junglestate of Veracruz and rainy.
He served as anurban and cosmopolitan culture developed which hadTotonac and Teotihuacan influence, especially in terms of worship andreligious concerns.

Located in thestate of Veracruz, El Tajin is one of many important archaeological sites in Mexico. Most of this site is still unexcavated.The site is filled withmany fascinating and mysterious ruins. Its importance was early ninth century to the early thirteenth century, the cultural influence of Tajin was felt throughout the Gulfof Mexico andcame to central Mexico. El Tajin has survived as an example of the greatness and importance of the Hispanic cultures of Mexico.
His name means inTotonac "thunder and lightning", although todaythere are still doubts about the veracity of his name in ancient timesand its builders. Well, one theory isthat this city of Veracruz must have belonged to a group of communities competing for access to trade routes and natural resources.
one of the contributions tothis region was volcanic material with whichthey made the pyramids, today you can see the same material in the "metates" and "molcajetes"  and the Pyramid ofthe Niches. The most famous of all the buildings of El Tajin is the Pyramid of Niches, a masterpiece of ancientMesoamerican architecture. It is believedthat this pyramid is an ancient calendar. The 365 niches, or alcoves, which were paintedbright blue and red, probably represented the days of the year.
