What is a Tsunami?
Tsunamis are a series of waves, and are generated in an ocean or other body of water, because ofearthquake (landslides), volcanic eruption or meteorite impact. Tsunamis generated extensive damage when they hit the coast. The waves are monstrously huge, really have very little to do with tides, so the term "tidal wave" is actually incorrect. The tsunami caused by an earthquake under the deep sea. Earthquakes occur when large blocks of the Earth's crust move suddenly because the force of platetectonics. These blocks of the Earth's crust and is found in cracks called faults. Sometimes these parts do not move smoothly. As a tsunami travels into the shallower waters of the coast, slows and increases in height. While it is very difficult to see a tsunami at sea, when it reaches the coast can grow to several meters in height, and as it approaches the coast, developing a lot of energy. . The place within the earth where an earthquake begins is called the focus. The point on Earth's surface directly above the focus is called the epicenter. During an earthquake, the strongest shaking felt in the epicenter.

When he finally reaches the coast, it would seem that the tsunami is a wave that grows or decreases rapidly, or series of waves with a maximum height of 30 meters A fewminutes before a tsunami wave hits the coast, the water is about to retire and the coast may be the seabed. Usually, the first wave is not the largest, and every 10 to 60 minutes more waves arrive. These waves move faster than a person can run. The danger that causes a tsunami can last for several hours after the first wave. Unlike other waves, tsunami waves are not rotated or break. The coasts affectedby a tsunami severely eroded. A tsunami can cause flooding to hundreds of meters inland. The water moves with such force that is capable of destroying houses and other buildings.

Tsunami in Japan 2011
The earthquake and tsunami in Japan after 2011, was officially named by the Japan Meteorological Agency as the earthquake in the Pacific coast of the Tohoku region of 2011 or also known as theGreat East Japan Earthquake of March 11. A magnitude 9.0 MW earthquake that created tsunami waves of up to 40.5 meters. The earthquake occurred at 14:46:23 local time (5:46:23 UTC) on Friday March 11, 2011. The epicenter of the quake was in the sea, off the coast of Honshu, 130 km east of Sendai, in Miyagi prefecture, Japan. At first we calculated the magnitude at 7.9 degrees MW, which was laterincreased to 8.8, then to 8.9 degrees by the Geological Survey (USGS). And finally to 9.0 degrees MW, confirmed by the Japan Meteorological Agency and the USGS. The earthquake lasted about 6 minutes according to experts. The USGS said the quake occurred because of a shift in the area near the interface between subducting plates between the Pacific Plate and the North American plate. In the latitudeat which the earthquake occurred, the Pacific plate moves westward with respect to the North American plate at a rate of 83 mm / year. The Pacific plate moves under Japan at the Japan Trench, and sinks beneath west Asia.

Why did it happen?

It is easy to see why such a disaster occurred, the earth is a living planet and is constantly moving. Well plates were continuously exert a force Themagnitude of 9.0 MW made him the most powerful earthquake in Japan suffered to date and the world's third most powerful of all earthquakes measured to date. Since 1973 the subduction zone of the Japan Trench has seen nine seismic events of magnitude 7 or greater

Results of the disaster
After the earthquake generated a tsunami warning for the Pacific coast of Japan and other countries,...
