he word Sikh in Punjabi means disciple. Sikhs are disciples of god who follow the writings and teachings of the ten Sikh Gurus.

There is only One God, e is the sameGod for all persons of all the religions.
The soul goes through cycles of births and deaths before it reaches the human form. The goal of our life is to lead an good existence so that one can bewith God at the end.
Sikhs should remember God at all times and practice a healthy and truthful life while maintaining a balance between their spiritual obligations and temporal obligations.
The truepath to achieving salvation does not require renunciation of the world or celibacy, but living , an honest living and reject sins.
Sikhism condemns blind rituals such as fasting, visiting places ofpilgrimage, superstitions, worship of the dead, idol worship etc.

Ikh migration
Sikhs started moving to the UK mainly at the end of 1857 because of the colonial relationship that India andBritain had, they were forced to move to Britain because of the shortage of jobs in India and also because of the land distribution between Muslims and Hindus they were left out with no land of theirown so they migrated to the UK. Most of the Sikhs living in Britain today are from the third or fourth generation of their family and even dough there aren´t a lot of them in the UK it created a bigimpact in the society.
The UK has the largest total population of Sikhs outside India and Pakistan with 340,000 then it comes Canada with 280,000 and the US with 250,000.

ifestyleTheir symbol is the Khanda. The circle around the Khanda is called Chakar it has no beginning and no end it represents God and his eternity then we have the two curved swords named Kirpans they representthe twin concepts of Meeri and Peeri. They emphasize the equal things that a Sikh must do on spiritual aspirations as well as obligations to society.
