DENTALFLOSS
A set of fine filaments of nylon or plastic(typically Teflon or polyethylene) used to remove small pieces of food and dental plaque from the teeth. The thread is inserted between the teeth and is walking the edge of the teeth, especially the areanear the gum, which combined with tooth brushing prevents gum infections, halitosis and tooth decay. Sometimes, the floss can be protected with a layer of wax.
USAGE
• Cut about 40 cm of floss andwind in the middle fingers of both hands.
• Take the thread with the thumb and forefinger of each hand, leaving about 6 cm of thread between both hands.
• Tension the wire and slide it gently betweenyour teeth.
• Move rubbing the edge of the tooth with the thread from top to bottom, removing plaque and food debris.
• Try to get as low as possible to the gumline.
• It is recommended to use atleast once or twice a day, especially at bedtime.
Method of preparation
Making floss or nylon is highly specialized and requires experience in the textile art. The specification of tissue which ispreferably maintained until today. Nylon chemical properties (uniformity, tensile strength and abrasion resistance and elasticity), and its low cost, render the nylon fiber of choice is flossing.The yarn is made up of individual continuous filaments of two or three dernier thick. Flossing can vary in thickness from 4 to 18 endings. As the ends (fibers formed by filaments) decrease, the riskthat the thread fraying and conversely, if increasing, this ability decreases. Sometimes the tarpaulin is made thread for reducing the risk of fraying.
