Disasters
The term disaster refers to the huge material losses and by humans caused events or natural phenomena such as earthquakes, floods, landslides, deforestation, pollution and others.
Some disasters are caused by human activities that alter normal environment. Some of these are: environmental pollution, erroneous and irrational exploitation of renewable natural resources such as forestsand soil and non-renewable such as minerals, building homes and buildings in high-risk areas.
The effects of a disaster can be amplified due to poor planning of human settlements, lack of safety measures, emergency plans and warning systems manmade gets a little fuzzy.
Human activity in areas with high probability of natural disasters known as high risk. High-risk areas without instrumentationand appropriate measures to respond to natural disasters or reduce their negative effects are known as highly vulnerable areas.
Disasters are not natural, are natural phenomena. Disasters always presented by the action of man in his environment. For example, a hurricane in the middle of the ocean is not a disaster unless there happens a Navi.
The wind, the waves and all the natural dynamics showthe complex interrelationship between the lithosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere and biosphere. Many of these dynamics are to humans almost imperceptible, such as erosion and sedimentation caused by wind, rivers, glaciers, etc.. However, there are times when behavior becomes violent natural elements, such as earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, threatening companies, their assets and their activities. In them, a disaster can cause a reduction in the gross national product (GNP) for several years. For example, a flood sweeps the topsoil and takes years to recover. It has been estimated that losses due to disasters PBN can be, proportionately, 20 times higher in developing countries than in advanced nations.

The FAO (United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization) has estimated that thedrought in the 70s in the Sahel (Africa) halved the GDP of the euro area countries: Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Mauritania, Niger and Senegal.

SCHOOL OF NATURAL DISASTERS

They have been classified over 20 disaster risks can produce. Ranging from earthquakes to fog and mist, but the most important are:
Hydrological: stormy waves, tsunamis

Weather: floods, hurricanes, cyclones, typhoons, tornadoes, drought, frost, hail, cold snaps or heat, snow or winter storms.

Geophysicists: volcanism and earthquakes, avalanches, landslides, mudslides, avalanches.

Biological: Red Tide (appearance on the surface of the waters of mussels, clams, etc. They carry toxins and disrupt the food chain)

Types of natural disasters
Mass Movements
Avalanche
An avalanche or landslide is a sudden slipmaterial, mixture of ice, rock, soil and vegetation downslope. Avalanches can be stone or dust. Avalanches are the greatest danger during the winter in the mountains, can travel miles, and cause total destruction of the hillside and everything in its path.
Subsidence
Ground subsidence is a localized depression in the earth's surface caused by the collapse of some internal structure, like a cave. They happen without warning and affect buildings located above and adjacent. In some cases we do not know how deep they are and that's the background.

Atmospheric phenomena
Heat wave
Disaster is characterized by extreme heat and unusual happens at the site. Heat waves are rare and require special combinations of weather events to take place, and may include investments katabatic winds andother phenomena and can be very destructive when impacted with a house or structure.
Hail
A hailstorm is a natural disaster where the storm produced large amounts of damaging hail fall area. Hailstones are chunks of ice, hail storms are especially devastating in farms and fields, killing livestock, ruining crops and damaging sensitive equipment. A storm of this nature hurt Munich (Germany) on...
