TBL LESSON PLAN
(Based on the variation on page 15 from the booklet)

Starting point:

➢ I’ll start by asking students about their family. Questions such as “Who did you have breakfast with thismorning?, Who brought you to school this morning?, What’s your family like? Is it small? Is it big?, etc.
➢ After we started talking about our families, I’ll stick “My family Tree” on the board andI’ll tell students that, while I tell them about my family, they’ll have to make a list of the male and female members of my family.
Example list:

➢ The phrases that I’ll use will be the ones I want them tolearn. Example phrases: That’s my .............; His/Her name is .......................; Who’s that boy/girl?; He/She is my ................; Is he/she my .................?; Is he/she your.....................?, etc.

Outcome:

➢ Lists of relatives.
➢ Family trees.

Sample task:

➢ Listen to the teacher and make a list of male and female members of her family.

Follow up task:

➢ Readthe list of your partner’s family members again and answer: How many males and females are there in his/her family? Compare it to your family.

TBL CYCLE

PRE-TASK:

➢ I’ll stick a poster of myfamily and nouns related to family relationships that I want them to learn.
➢ I’ll signal every member and I’ll say the noun referring to the relationship and then the name. For example: That’s myfather. His name is Marselo. While students listen, they’ll have to make a list of male and female members of my family and their relationship to me.
