The incorporation of new technologies to every country in the world has provoked dramatic changes in the traditional culture of any country.This is reflected in Bhutanwhere the introduction of T.V. has brought positive and negative alterations for the society.
On the one hand,T.V. has provided a whole range of possibilities for Bhutanese people.They have discoveredthat there are a lot of different cultures, where people have other ways of living. For instance, they have learned new ways of clothing, they now wear jeans instead of their traditional dresses.They are also watching T.V. programs like the wrestlings which are changing the way they interact with their peers. Even the music, they are developing a new taste for foreign music, more exactlyAmerican music. All the discoveries they have reached through T.V. are oppening their minds and producing modifications in the out look of Bhutanese people.
But on the other hand T.V.has produced anegative impact on Bhutanese´s style of life. T.V. has pushed the Bhutanese people towards consumerism and materialism. They have encountered that people from other countries have a more comfortable life,and if they want that comfort they need more objects like furnitures, new cars, some new appliances at home like washing machines or microwaves. So, the desire of having those expensive objects hasmede some Bhutaneses going mad, in fact, some of them have confessed feelings of envy or resentment to the things they do not have, and those are feelings that such an spiritual culture has neverexperimented before. In this way Bhutanese people, under the influence of foreign cultures, are breaking up completely their minds and consequently their behaviour.
The insertion of techologies couldbring both difficulties but also progress to a society, but the aplication of new techologies is a necessary and inevitable process that all coutries have to deal with. The real chalenge is to learn...
