Teens & love
Love is in some cases, for some people a mask, something that just serves as a decoration.Cecily Von Ziegesar says in her book Gossip Girl: You Know You Love Me, “after all, no one really wants to go to college a virgin,” (2). With these words, we can see that for maybe a lot of people, theones she’s talking about, love and/or dating is there for losing their virginity with some handsome guy or nice girl. “She was too wrapped up in her own tragedy (…) And she was still a virgin,”(Ziegesar 220) It feels as is love is just a word and a good reason to have sex, but just for some teenagers, because just the older ones think about college. Probably love for seniors and juniors is anexcuse to lose their virginity, but not for all of them.
“Edward, I know who I can’t live without. (…) But I could never be that self-sacrificing. I have to be with you. It’s the only way I can live,”is what Stephenie Meyer writes in her book Eclipse (610; ch 27). These words demonstrate us the other kind of teenage love, this love may be a little intense though. This way of perceiving the love isvery important; because we can see that love for these teenagers is everything, their own lives.
