France
France or the French Republic is the second largest country in Europe and borders Spain, Italy, Switzerland, and Germany; there are also other overseas regions of France, such as French Guinea in Northern South America; Guadeloupe and Martinique in the Caribbean Ocean; and Mayotte in the Mozambique Channel . The French population has very diverse origins. Many people have settled inFrance including the Celts, Romans, Germans, Russians, Asians, Africans and North Americans. 
France has a semi presidential system, meaning the both the prime minister and president are active participants in the daily administration of the country. The nation has declared itself as secular, democratic and as a Social Republic, in which the people have absolute control of who is going to beelected.
Historically, agriculture was one of France's major industries, it exported products such as wheat, cereals, sugar beets, potatoes, wine grapes; beef, dairy products and fish. France is still today, a leading producer of wine. In time, agriculture shifted towards a more industrialized system. France industry produces cars, aerospace products, and other manufactured goods. It is also amajor producer of chemical products. Fashion, textiles and tourism also play a significant role in the French economy. As a matter of fact, France is the most visited country in the world and is considered the fashion capital, which generates income to the country. All this factors have made France the fifth largest economy in the world.

French history goes back to the Celts, which where earlyFrench settlers that lived in 1000 BC. Later the Romans took over the area in 58 BC. In 486 AD, a Germanic tribe called the Franks directed by King Clovis conquered the Roman Empire. It was Clovis who adopted the Roman Catholic religion, which explains why more than the 70% of French people are said to be Catholics. The French acquire the name of its nation, by their late ancestors the Franks.
Inthe seventeenth and eighteenth centuries France was ruled by Monarchs. French explorers discovered many parts of the world, and the seeking of more power, land, trade and resources sparked an imperialist movement on the French people. The French established its domain in different lands all over the world, such as in South America and islands in the Caribbean Ocean.
In the early 19th century, oneof the greatest military commanders in history, General Napoleon Bonaparte conquered much of Europe and established himself as an Emperor. Napoleon believed in a  government "for" the people, however, he rejected the idea of a government "by" the people. In the end, he was finally defeated at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815.
After all of this, one historical event that marked the beginning of anew and better society was the French Revolution. In 1789, the French Revolution managed to overthrow the monarchy under the three basic human rights which are Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity. This led to the establishment of the National Assembly, an elected government.
After the French Revolution, The French established themselves and had a relative stable time. It was in 1914 to 1918 whereFrance was involved in the first and biggest disaster of modern times, World War 1. World War 1 brought great losses of troops and resources to the French Army and to its allies at that time which was England. Both of this came into victory in the 1918s.
However, this event sparked revenge into Adolf Hitlers soul, and as a result, in the 1940s France was involved in the Second World War. Francesurrendered to Nazi Germany early in World War II, but manage to win the war with its Strongest allies which where the United States and England. War was officially over in 1945. This event marked the beginning of France being a member of the United Nations and serves as one of the permanent members of the UN Security Council with veto rights.
