Objective
To analyzethe cervical cancer mortality trend in women aged 25 years and over, insured by the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) in the period 2000-2011 and the relation with PREVENIMSS detection.
Material and Methods
An ecological study of mortality trend was carried out. The deaths caused by cervical cancer were obtained from the IMSS Mortality System (SISMOR), database thatidentifies delegation and national deaths in the study period. Crude rates of mortality due to cervical cancer were calculated by one hundred thousand women older than 24 years and delegation, also was calculated percentage rates differences, standardization of rates with the 2005 national population, slope value, Poisson regression model and Pearson correlation.
Results
There is a declinetendency in the cervical cancer mortality the study period, with a national slope value of -0,636. The cervical cancer mortality decreases in 2.85% by the increase of the screening cover in 1.0%.
Discussion
The systematization early detection of cervical cancer program has been fundamental in reducing mortality from this disease in women aged 25 and older.
