ESTADO ACTUAL DE LA TEORIA HECKSCHER-OHLIN

La Teoría Heckscher-Ohlin (H-O) del comercio internacional ha dominado este campo dela economía por cerca de cincuenta años. Sin embargo, desde la primera y más famosa prueba empírica del Teorema Heckscher-Ohlin, realizada por Leontief en 1953, hasta los trabajos más recientes, los resultados no han sido favorables a la teoría y mucho menos convincentes. A pesar del alto contenido empírico y de la complejidad de los modelos, sus supuestos parecen ser bastante restrictivos ante lascondiciones actuales del comercio internacional. Este distanciamiento entre la teoría y la realidad pone en evidencia el debate en torno del aporte de los desarrollos empíricos a la teoría, la interacción entre los dos y el papel de la estimación y la comprobación en el campo. Este trabajo aporta una visión del desarrollo de la Teoría H-O, las contribuciones empíricas y el debate actual sobre lamisma, mediante una revisión completa de la bibliografía más sistemática de la teoría. Así mismo, el tratamiento del origen de la Teoría Heckscher-Ohlin a partir de sus fuentes originales, constituye una revisión valiosa del pensamiento económico. Adicionalmente, se plantea un programa de hipótesis para desarrollar en una agenda futura de investigación. CURRENT STATE OF THE HECKSCHER-OHLIN THEORY

The Heckscher-Ohlin Theory (H-O) of international trade has dominated this economy field for about fifty years. Nevertheless, since the first and most famous empirical test of theHeckscher-Ohlin Theorem, developed by Leontief in 1953, to the most recent works, the results have not been favorable to the theory and much less convincing. In spite, of the high empirical content and the complexity of the models, their assumptions seem to be quite restrictive versus the present conditions of international trade. This distance between theory and reality, puts in evidence the debatearound the empirical developments contributions to the theory, the interaction between both and the role of estimation and verification in the field. This work contributes with a vision of the H-O Theory development, the empirical contributions and the present debate on the matter, by means of a complete revision of the most systematic bibliography of the theory. Additionally, the treatment of theHeckscherOhlin Theory origin, from its original sources, constitutes a valuable revision of the economic thought. Also it gives a hypothesis program to be developed in a future agenda of investigation.
