Los aztecas llegaron a Teotihuacan en el siglo XIV y se encontraron con un inmenso centro religioso abandonado. Tanto les impresionó la grandeza del lugar, que pensaron que había sido creado por gigantes y que incluso los dioses se habían reunido ahí. La zona fue pobladadesde siglos antes de Cristo, con una población de entre 125 mil y 250 mil habitantes, siendo una de las 5 ciudades más pobladas del mundo en esa época. En la imagen podemos observar la Pirámide del Sol, cuyos lados miden 215 metros.
The Aztecs tribe arrived to Teotihuacan in the XIV Century and found an enormous abandoned religious center. They were so impressed by the magnificence of theplace that they thought it had been created by giants and that even gods had met there. The area was inhabited centuries before Christ’s birth, and had a population of about 125 to 250 thousand people. In that time, it was one of the five most populated cities in the world. In the picture, we can see the Pyramid of the Sun which accounts for 215 meters per side.

Las impresionantes ruinas de la gran ciudad de Teotihuacán se hallan casi a igual altitud sobre el nivel del mar que la otra gran ciudad del nuevo mundo, Machu Pichu en Perú. Pero aquí terminan las semejanzas, pues mientras que la última está inscrita entre escarpados precipicios, Teotihuacán se alza en medio de una ampliallanura en el valle de México.

The astonishing ruins of the great City of Teotihuacan, are located almost at the same height over sea level than the other great city in the new world, Machu Pichu in Peru, but any resemblance ends here. Uno de los orgullos arqueológicos de México es sin lugar a dudas Teotihuacán. Según el mito, esta fue la ciudad sagrada elegida por los dioses para crear el centro del universo, es centro de la mitología mexicana, además de la ciudad más importante de Mesoamérica durante el periodo clásico.
Teotihuacan is without doubt one ofthe archeological prides of Mexico. According to the myth, this was the sacred land elected by the gods to develop the centre of the Universe. It is the center of the Mexican mythology, and was the most important city in Central America during the Classical Period.

El significado de Teotihuacán se compone de teolt, “dios”; hua,posesivo, y can, “lugar”. Y significa: “Lugar de los que tienen dioses” o “Lugar que tienen a nuestros dioses”. Por lo que según la mitología Náhuatl, representa el lugar en donde fueron creados el sol y la luna.
The name Teotihuacan is compound by the Nahuatl words “teotl” (god). “hua” (of), and “can” (place). And means “The place of those who have gods” or “The place which our gods have”, asaccording to what Nahuatl mythology claims, it represents the place where the sun and the moon were created.
