Fertilizers are nutrients of mineral origin and created by the hand of man.
It is very common for people to understand as a synonym for fertilizer the word " manure " (created by nature ) .
ELEMENTS THAT MAKE UP
Fertilizers are composed of three basic elements:
* Nitrogen ( engine plant growth )
* Phosphorus ( makes up 0.1 to 0.4 percent of the extract dry plant )* Potassium( supplies from one to four percent of dry plant extract )
{ MAJOR ELEMENTS( The presence of any or all three elements )
FERTILIZER FORMULAS
a) SIMPLE FORMULAS :Fertilisers containingformulation in only one of the three fundamental elements multicitados .
b ) COMPLEX FORMULAS :Fertilizers that contain varying percentage in the formulation of the three major elements.
Mineralfertilizers
They can be classified in Solids and Liquids .
Within the solid mineral fertilizers find straight fertilizers (single nutrient) , compounds ( more than one nutrient ) and blending (mixture of the above )
Within the liquid mineral fertilizers find simple and compound fertilizers .
Examples:
- KNO3
- ( NH2) 2CO
- ( NH4 ) 2H2PO4
Most of the compound fertilizers are in themarket are actually Blending . The difference between Blending and composting is that the former can be physically separated .
Environmental Impacts
negative environmental impacts of the production offertilizers can be severe. Sewage is a fundamental problem. They can be very acidic or alkaline , depending on the type of plant , may contain some toxic substances to aquatic organisms ifconcentrations are high: ammonia or ammonium compounds , urea nitrogen plants , cadmium , arsenic, and phosphorus phosphate operations , if present as an impurity in phosphate rock .
FERTILIZER APPLICATION
Themethod of application of fertilizers ( organic fertilizer or mineral fertilizers ) is an essential component of good agricultural practices. The amount and timing of absorption depend on various...
