RESUMEN
Antecedentes: Ecuador tiene altas tasas de fecundidad, el 17,2% de adolescentesentre 15 y 19 años tiene un hijo, datos claves que motivaron el desarrollo de la
Estrategia Nacional Intersectorial de Planificación Familiar y Prevención de Embarazo
Adolescente (ENIPLA), cuya meta es mejorar los conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas
de los adolescentes respecto a sexualidad y planificación familiar.
Objetivo: Identificar cambios en conocimientos, actitudes y prácticas en las/losestudiantes de 15 a 18 años de la ciudad de Cuenca, que recibieron y no
recibieron capacitación por ENIPLA.
Materiales y Métodos: Investigación analítica-transversal, aplicada a los
estudiantes de bachillerato de la ciudad de Cuenca, año lectivo 2013-2014, que
recibieron y no recibieron capacitación acerca de ENIPLA; fueron incluidos 352
alumnos. Se utilizó un formulario basado en la segundaencuesta nacional de
juventudes de Costa Rica, Encuesta Demográfica y de Salud Materna e Infantil.
Resultados: La capacitación ENIPLA fue impartida al 52,94% de los
encuestados, el 26,20% fueron de sexo femenino y el 26,74% de sexo masculino.
El conocimiento acertado sobre el concepto de sexualidad y planificación familiar,
fue de 45,99% y 40,64% respectivamente. El 95,74% conocen el condón, y el43,40% lo utilizan; la cuarta parte (28,34%) llevan una vida sexual activa y el
39,62% tuvieron su primera relación sexual entre los 14 a 16 años.
Conclusiones: No existen modificaciones en los conocimientos, actitudes y
prácticas sobre Sexualidad y Planificación familiar entre estudiantes capacitados y
no capacitados.

ABSTRACT
Background: Ecuador has high fertility rates,17.2% of adolescents between 15
and 19 years have been mothers, which are key facts that led to the development
of the National Intersectorial Strategy for Family Planning and Teen Pregnancy
Prevention (ENIPLA in Spanish), whose goal is to improve the knowledge,
attitudes and practices regarding adolescent sexuality and family planning.
Objective: To identify changes in knowledge, attitudes andpractices in students
that were 15-18 years old from Cuenca, who received and did not receive training
by ENIPLA.
Materials and Methods: Analytical-cross-sectional study applied to high school
students from Cuenca (2013-2014 school year), who received and did not receive
training on ENIPLA; 352 students were enrolled. A form based on the second
national survey of youth in Costa Rica, demographicand maternal and child health
was used.
Results: ENIPLA training was imparted to 52.94% of the respondents, 26.20%
were female and 26.74% male. Successful knowledge about the concept of
sexuality and family planning was 45.99% and 40.64% respectively. The 95.74%
