World Trade Center (WTC)
The Original World Trade Center was a complex located in Lower Manhattan, New York (USA), where the Twin Towers stood, destroyed on September 11, 2001 due to a terroristattack. The resort was for decades the symbol of the U.S. financial world.
The World Trade Center was designed by Minoru Yamasaki in the early 1960s. The north tower (1) was the first to be completed.The complex was built in the heart of the financial district of the City of New York. Between 1972 and 1973, the Twin Towers were the tallest buildings in the world.
The September 11, 2001 the WorldTrade Center was destroyed by an attack of the terrorist organization Al Qaeda, which killed more than 2,600 people. Today, the area where stood the World Trade Center is under construction,colloquially called Ground Zero skyscrapers include height five times, led by the One World Trade Center, 541 m, in addition to being the seat of a memorial to the victims of September 11.

Facts aboutthe Twin Towers

Tower 2 had a height of 415 meters, while the tower one reached the 417 meters (more than 526 with the telecommunications antenna).
Both Twin Towers had a width of 63.5 meters.
In 1968, with the construction and assembly of the first main columns, cranes arrived from Australia like "Kangaroo", which provided a fast way to lift materials to the upper floors. Each tower had 4of these cranes.
 With 110 floors, the towers were the tallest buildings and the largest number of plants in New York until its destruction.
 It is estimated that the Twin Towers contained200,000 tons of steel, 325,000 cubic meters of concrete, 300,000 m² of glazed windows corresponding to 43 600, 198 elevators with an average capacity of 55 people, 71 escalators, 93 ha of offices, and150,000 visitors a day, mostly foreign tourists.
