The Cave Resident.

The sun is setting in the horizon. The sky is painted in pink and childish purple clouds timidly travel its immensity. I amsitting on the humid grass, waiting; welcoming that blessed warm light with every cell of my body. I am not sure what I am waiting for, but here I am,immovable, staring at the dark cave in front of me. The old woman in the black dress told me to wait for it to come to me. So here am I, just waiting, foras long as it takes. During the first few years, I used to continuously question myself... what if "it" is hibernating until the end of time? What ifthere is another exit on the other side of the cave? What if I am late and it had left a long time ago? But she told me to wait, and that's what I willdo. Roots were starting to sprout from my legs and feet. Birds got so used to me sitting here all day and night that they decided that my long hair was agood place to build up their nest. My nails are so long now that I can pick up berries form the bushes nearby whenever I feel hungry.

I cannotrecall my life before this expectation, and it doesn't really matter. I am full of hope, it will come to me when the right time comes, I am at the rightplace anyways. Sometimes, when I cry in despair, I can catch it in a glance jumping quickly from rock to rock, diffused by the shadows of the cave. I knowit knows that I am waiting for a face to face encounter. I know it is testing my patience, my faith. That's why I keep waiting, to show my devotion.
