Theory
The cellular theory is very important because it explains the constitution of all living matter …Butthe way to discover this small unit was not easy and it was not just one man, many other Scientifics tried to explain and describe how this complex machine works… but many of them failed because ofthe technology and information of that time, and bit by bit, step by step they can reconstruct, describe, explain and agree new things that can make this explanation of life better. So that’s whythere are different applications of this theory from many scientifics and it is based on three laws.
1. All living organisms are composed of one or more cells.
2. The cell is the basic unit ofstructure, function, and organization in all organisms.
3. All cells come from preexisting cells
Postulations:
Robert hooke
* He examined (under a coarse, compound microscope) very thin slicesof cork and saw a multitude of tiny pores that he remarked looked like the walled compartments a monk would live in. Because of this association, Hooke called them cells.
Anton van Leeuwenhoek
*first to witness a live cell under a microscope and he named the moving organisms animalcules, meaning "little animals"[.Leeuwenhoek probably also saw bacteria
Ludolph Christian Treviranus.
* Heproposed that cells were separable into individual units.
Henri Dutrochet
* He declared that "The cell is the fundamental element of organization".
Theodor Schwann and Matthias Jakob Schleiden* suggested that cells were the basic unit of life. Their theory accepted the first two tenets of modern cell theory. However, the cell theory of Schleiden differed from modern cell theory in thatit proposed a method of spontaneous crystallization that he called "free cell formation".
Rudolf Virchow
* concluded that all cells come from pre-existing cells.
