Creation Myths

“The term creation signifies both an act and the result of such in which an agent affects the origin of an entity” (Unknown). A creation entails that there is a creating agent and a creating purpose involved. All religions and mythologies have explanations that describe how their particular universe was created.
The Genesis
The Book of Genesis, the first book of the Bible, narrates the Creation of the Universe. According to this book, God created the world in seven days. In the beginning God created heaven and earth. On the first day He decided to create light. He separated light from darkness and the day and night came to be. On His second day, God divided the waters above from the waters below and created the heavens. The Creator commanded that the watersshould be gathered in one place and dry land to appear. He commands the earth to bring forth grass, plants, and fruit-bearing trees on the third day. God, on the fourth day, creates lights in the heavens to separate light from darkness and to mark days, seasons and years. Two great lights and the stars are created. On the fifth day of Creation God commands the sea to "team with livingcreatures", and birds to fly across the heavens; He creates birds and sea creatures, and commands them to be fruitful and multiply. Then on the sixth day God commands the land to bring forth living creatures, and creates man, named Adam, and woman, Eve, to his image and likeness. They are told to be fruitful and fill the earth and subdue it, but they are forbidden to eat from one specific tree. Finally,on the seventh and last day He completed the heavens and earth and He rests.
Unfortunately, Eve encounters a serpent that encourages her to eat from this tree. Eve shared the apple she took from the tree with Adam. While walking in the garden God discovers their disobedience. He curses the serpent and the couple, and states that Eve will suffer a painful childbirth and that she must submitto her husband’s authority. Adam is cursed to work the ground for food and they are banished from Eden.
Sent out into the world, Adam and Eve give birth to two sons, Cain and Abel. One day Cain, a farmer, offers God a portion of his crops as a sacrifice, only to learn that God is more pleased when Abel, a herdsman, presents God with the fattest portion of his flocks. Enraged, Cain kills hisbrother. God exiles Cain from his home to wander in the land east of Eden. Adam and Eve give birth to a third son, Seth. Through Seth and Cain, the human race begins to grow. Ten generations pass, and humankind becomes more evil. God begins to lament his creation and makes plans to destroy humankind completely. However, one man, Noah, has earned God’s favor because of his blameless behavior. Godspeaks to Noah and instructs him to build an ark, or a boat large enough to hold him, his family and pairs of every kind of living animal while God sends a great flood to destroy the earth. The rain fell for forty days submerging the earth in water for approximately more than one year. When the waters receded God called Noah and told him and his family that it was now safe to exit the ark. Uponexiting the ark, the family found that the earth was moist and green again. God vows to never destroy earth again if humankind follows certain favor, they must not eat meat with blood in it.
Many generations pass and humanity gets more evil and corrupt. Some men try to prove that they are better than God and build a tower that would allow them to reach the heavens. He, the creator, becomesoutraged and destroys their structure. He scatters all the men on the ground by changing their languages and dividing the humans into different nations.
