Title: The Great Gracie Chase, Stop That Dog!
Author: Cynthia RylantIllustrator: Mark Teague
Genre: Realistic Fiction
Setting: The story takes place in Gracie Rose’s house and the streets downtown.
Main Character: The main character is Gracie Rose.She is a good little dog, who lives in a quiet house with a bigger dog, a cat and a fish. She loves quiet places and has been good every day of her life, except for one day.
SecondaryCharacters: The painters and everyone who chased Gracie.
Problem: Gracie Rose likes living in her quiet house. But one day the painters came in a big, noisy truck, and into Gracie’s kitchen.They moved the chairs around and made a lot of noise. Gracie was barking, telling them to be quiet. Instead of being quiet the painters put Gracie outside and the gate to the street was open.Gracie was so upset about the noise, and that she was put outside, that she decided to be naughty for the first time in her life. Gracie decided to go on a walk by herself, even when she knewshe was not allowed to do it. Once the painters found out she was on the street they started to follow her, and then many other people started to follow her too. The more people followed her,the more she ran through the streets and that is how the Great Gracie Chase started.
Solution: After chasing Gracie for a long time, the people were tired and stopped running. When thepeople stopped chasing Gracie, everything was quiet again and Gracie was happy. So, Gracie decided to stop running and go back to her house by herself.
Personal Opinion: I really like thisstory because I have a dog like Gracie. Her name is Sunday. I think Sunday likes it quiet too, because when visitors come to the house she acts a little crazy and starts barking at them too.
