34) Brad Dolan wasn't afraid of breaking the rules; he was only afraid of being caught breaking them, whereas William Wharton just didn't care.

35) Roll on three was used if the doctor listened with his stethoscope and heardheartbeats after roll on two. In the novel, it is used during the execution of the chief.

36) When Paul’s urinary infection came back, Wharton arrived, and all hell broke loose. He had been in hospital, perhaps he had hopes of being declared incompetent for reasons of epilepsy, but the doctors didn’t find anything wrong with him, so he was sent to Cold Mountain two weeks after John and a week orten days before Delacroix walked the Green Mile.

37) As soon as he arrived at E Block, he looked shot up with morphine. He was misleading them. Suddenly, when he was surrounding by Harry, Dean and Percy, he lifted his arms , dropped the chain which hung between his wrists over Dean’s head, and commenced to choke him with it.. Then, he flung Harry off. Percy was too afraid to act with hisstick, Brutal came in and solved the situation.

39) Meanwhile Wharton was chocking Dean with his chain, Percy only stood there, against the wall, hickorybaton in hand, staring with wide, stunned eyes. Eyes as wide as soup-plates. Here was the chance he’d been looking for, his golden opportunity to put that tallywhacker of his to good use, and he was too scared and confused to do it.
Percy kept his mouth shut once the excitement was over. This was probably the result of shock rather than any effort at tact – Percy Wetmore knew as much about tact as Ido about native tribes of darkest Africa, said Paul.

40) Paul thinks that being alone is terrible at any age, but it is worst during old age, because that is the moment when feelings like fear, homesickness, sadness and weakness are stronger, but if you have someone to be with you, those feelings are not so intense.
Quote: “The hand which had gone around my shoulders was now rubbing my back.I was beginning to calm. In that moment I loved Elaine Connelly, and could have kissed her all over her face as I told her so. Maybe I should have. It's terrible to be alone and frightened at any age, but I think it's worst when you're old”.

41) After years of being lonely, Paul finds a woman, Elaine Connelly (his special friend as he calls her), who reminds him in every way of his wife Janice(not just his ladyfriend but his bestfriend), who was tragically killed in a bus accident.
During his last years with Elaine, Paul compares her to Janice in aspects such as kisses (when Elaine kissed his forehead just above the eyebrow s), laughs, sayings (for instance when Elaine said “Poor John Coffey”, “and poor Paul Edgecombe, too”, reminded him of Janice saying "Poor Paul, Poor old guy”)....
