The Hobbit: There and Back Again

Whenever I stumble upon a new book particularly a fantasy or sciencefiction work, I have always shown great interest in exploring the universe and going way beyond of that of which I am reading. Recently I have been taught of several methods for analyzing literature andthey are for a fantasy geek like me, a set of pretty useful toys. The Hobbit, J.R.R Tolkien’s prequel to his greatest masterpiece The Lord of The Rings has been a wonderful reading experienceaccompanied with his posterior works like The Silmarillion and The Unfinished Tales, this Englishman has created a compete universe with absolutely no gaps with languages and dialects along with theiralphabets. Divided into three ages and omnipresent narrator, the reading complexity and vocabulary evolves from novel to novel and the characters role is significant in each one of them.
Tolkien has focusedall his Middle Earth novels in separating evil from what is just, he designed and imagined each and every single character to represent a characteristic that puts them in one of the two sides. Thereason this is basically supports the idea that the hierarchy of the races or their strength does not make them the best or legitimate ruler of the rest. A little of Marxism can be seen in Tolkien’s workwhen all the races struggle for possession of the loot similar to his thesis of struggle of social classes and dialectical materialism.
Analyzing the book using Archetype Theory lets the readerunderstand each role Tolkien has designed for his characters to fulfill. The evolution of the characters thought the book, their ups and downs along with their fate in the end.
