This book is special, it has three stories and here is the summary of them.
- The Masque of the Red Death
Many years ago Prospero, a noble prince saw that his people died but the death was notnormal. He didn’t want to die and he decided to lock himself in his castle with the noble and healthy people of his kingdom. There was a party. The castle was to be the place where everyone would eat,grow, die with all the luxuries.
A few months, the Prince Prospero decided to do a masks party. Once started the party the prince could see how each room had a different decoration, each more beautifuland cheerful. He walked through the castle to see the wonderful costumes of the maids and knights, all were beautiful and spectacular. But one of the rooms was crossed with a stranger masked. ThePrince noted the masked and angry he ordered to removal the mask of man. But in this the masked began to kill all the people he touched. He was the reason why the people died, the nobles wouldn’t be anexception and they all fell dead. In fact, under the guise and mask of the famous masked there was nothing.
- The Pit and the Pendulum
The story takes place during the Spanish Inquisition, in a darkpunishment cell where tortures consist in loneliness, abandonment, darkness, cold and hunger. He is tied and experiences the anguish of knowing his approaching death as a pendulum down to it sure itwill be killed by the knife edge of such a pendulum. Man had some food to share with rats, with difficulty he manages to make rodents damage the rope that is tied up and release him, immediately thependulum stops. And in this moment de man thinks that he is filmed, he is already prepared for him an even worse death. The room shape changes and reduces its size, the dilemma is to die that way or jumpinto the pit that is in the middle, the one who originally was to be his grave.
