The Mystery of the Sphinx

This movie is about a scientific debate between Geologists and Egyptologists, regarding the age of the Sphinx. The study of the Egyptian culture has always suggested thatthe Sphinx was built by the Egyptians under the rule of Pharaoh Khafre, around the year 2500 BCE. However, new evidence found regarding the erosion of this monument caused by water suggests itactually dates back to pre-Egyptian times, around the year 8000 BCE. This film was created in order to make the new theories and discoveries popular, and to show us that not everything history tells us iscompletely true, but that every day our knowledge keeps growing helping us put together the puzzle of human history.
The discovery of the new evidence was made by the independent historian Mr. JohnAnthony West,. He managed to realize that the Sphinx evidenced clear signs of water erosion caused by rain. The controversial part of the discovery, however, is the fact that there hasn’t beensignificant rain in Egypt for around 10000 years, meaning that the Sphinx would actually date from at least the year 8000 BCE, revoking all of the previous theories linking the Sphinx to the Egyptian culture.This would also suggest the existence of a lost culture which hasn’t yet been discovered.
The movie also mentions the mystery of the construction of the Pyramids, regarding the fact that the blocksused to construct them were massive, but yet the pyramids seem to be perfectly symmetrical. Even today despite our technology, it would be extremely hard to build the pyramids. On the other hand, theTemple of Man in Luxor is of an extremely advanced architecture, as it is built in the shape of a human skeleton in movement, which would require an advanced knowledge of mathematics and constructiontechniques.
