“The necklace”

This story takes place in Paris, at the end of the 1800’s, and it’s wrote by Guy de Maupassant. It is about Madame Loisel and aninvitation that she receives from his husband to a party, in which she’s going to be the center of attention. The problem starts when she lost the object that made her thatcenter of attention and her life and her husband’s change forever.

The story starts describing Mme. Loisel, saying that she was a beautiful, married, but unhappy andwith no family rank or social class. She was unhappy about her position in the society; she doesn’t have any fine dresses or any jewelry.

I think this character itsimportant to the story sense because of her character; because of her vanity, avarice and her thirst of having better, luxurious and expensive material things. Thanks toher thirst, she made the error of her life, asking for a “diamond” necklace to her friend, Mme. Forestier.

Then when Mme. Loisel lost Mme. Forestier necklace, herlife change forever, turning her into a women that does heavy housework and cleaning stuff to recover the money that she had lost. This hard work made her reflect about hergreedy behavior and change her mind, giving her another view of life.

This is a very good story to read, I think it has a great message, which is telling the truth,no matter what happens.
