Since the “Pizza Place” is a family run business, there are certain leniencies which quickly became obvious. The first is the lack of concern Ron’s brother has with thehappiness of the customers. There is poor interaction, which does not leave the customer with a good impression of the restaurant. Although Ron’s brother is the manager of therestaurant, and he has the best interest of the restaurant in mind, he doesn’t always go about his work in the correct fashion. As an example, when Ron asked Sal to discipline the pizzaman, he did so in front of the customer. The yelling created an extraordinarily unfriendly environment, which is bad for business. This forced Ron to intervene. He apologized tothe customer, gave them a free meal, and took his brother to the back in order to make him understand that yelling in front of customers, or even yelling at customers, is notallowed. The situation directly related to coach K. Ron’s brother didn’t really understand how to act in front of customers, and would routinely get angry. Ron on the other hand, wasable to control the situation by controlling his emotions, and disciplining his brother in the back room, while simultaneously pleasing the customer with free food. Because Salis Ron’s brother, Ron is more lenient towards him. Any other acting in the same manner would have been fired.
The only solution that would work for the scenario is bettercommunication between Ron and his brother Sal. Ron needs to be less lenient in the way he handles his brother, or it will begin to affect profits. He, as the owner of the business, should not have Sal do the discipline, I think that the employees will take their work more seriously if the owner of the business has a talk with them, instead of his brother.
