The tragedy of Macbeth is a play written by the famous William Shakespeare between 1603 and 1607. It is commonly called Macbeth and is Shakespeare's shortest tragedy about a violent death of amonarch and its consequences. Macbeth is a movie released in 2006 directed by Geoffrey Wright. Wright takes Shakespeare's classic play and creates a journey full of bad things and drugs through acontemporary criminal underworld. Despite the years of difference, these excellent works carry the same message with differences and similarities which we can compare and contrast. Some elements that we cancompare and contrast are the plot, setting, characters, atmosphere and finally the conflict.

At the beginning, the play presented us the death of the Thane of Cawdor as well in the movie. Afterthat, the play presented the scene at a war, while the movie at a bar. Then, three witches appear to Macbeth and told him that he will be king so he decided to kill Banquo and King Duncan. Macbeth in themovie and in the play is managed by his wife Lady Macbeth. One thing that we can say is that the action of the movie and the play are similar. In the movie and in the play, after Macbeth is named kingMalcolm leaves the scene with fear. Both the movie and the play, Macduff ends up killing Macbeth and delivering the throne to Malcolm.

Another thing we can compare and contrast is the setting. Thesetting in the movie is in Australia, mostly developed in the streets and at home. While in the play the setting is in Scotland, developed mostly in the castle. If we compare the settings between themovie and play, in the movie we see the modern era and we can see how is adapt to the present with good cars, good guns, drugs and technology, while in the play we see things from the old era like acastle and obviously traditional things from the period represented by the play.
