THE WINNER STANDS ALONE
Igor is a handsome, millionaire, powerful and successful man who own a telephone company in Russia, where he was born. Years ago, he fought in the war of Afghanistan but nowhe is in Cannes for the annual Film Festival. He wants his ex-wife, Ewa, to come back with him and he remembers that when she left him for another man he told her that he was capable of destroyingwhole worlds because of her. She is now married to one of the most famous haute-couturiers in the world Hamid Hussein and they are in Cannes too for the Festival.
He’s convinced of destroying worldsand he stars with a girl who sells craftwork, he goes and talks to her. Her name’s Olivia, her parents exploit her and her boyfriend makes her feel like nothing. Igor thinks he can stop her sufferingand tells her that he is there for his wife and Olivia will help him to give her the messages. When the police are near, using a Russian art martial very uncommon, he presses down on her jugular veinand the blood stops blowing to her brain. He texts a message for Ewa, “I’ve destroyed a world for you”.
Igor kills other three people in different but also sophisticated ways. The second victim isJavits, a famous film producer; Igor poisons him with curare, a strange poison from South-America. The third one is Maureen; a young woman who has travelled from North America just to meet Javits forbusiness but now he’s dead. She agrees going to the beach with Igor, he thinks she has just chosen her death; when they are alone he drives a blade inside her body. Near there a boy sees everything andcalls the police, but they never find him, Detective Savoy is looking for a polite, well-dressed, about forty-something and with gray hair who can be the murderer. There can be a lot of men according tothat description. Because of that, Igor isn’t worried.
