A Clockwork Orange

At the end of the book we could stop and analyze what message or what’s the principal argument of the book. When I ended reading I founded that, from my point of view, theinterpretations or the understandings could be many and very diverse depending on the point of view of each person. The aspects I could take are basically tree: The first one introduces de idea offinding a middle point for our actions, without leaning to any extreme. The next aspect I could interpret is that anything you do to anyone sooner or later life will pay you back in a similar way. Thelast one and maybe the one that more analysis and thinking requires is the fact of the Ludovic treatment applied to Alex. It’s a method with which I disagree in the forced and mandatory way they try tocontrol the behavior of a person.

The first argument I exposed about the middle point is the most explicit and easy to catch when someone reads the book. What’s understood from the story isbasically that we have to find the balance between two edges. The extreme violence we saw at the beginning of the book that had, apparently, no reasons or valid justifications would be a behavior of extremeviolence which is not well seen by society; neither the extreme of being unable to defend yourself in situation you find yourself attacked. One example is when Alex finished the treatment he washumiliated in front of many people and placed in a situation where they was attacked and he couldn’t even defend himself. I consider that both situations are undesirable for society and that each one of usshould find the middle point that fits better in our surroundings.

The argument of the book just explained is complemented by the second interpretation I gave to the book and that is the way howeverything we do is equally returned to us. It left me with the message that each cause has an effect; it’s something similar to the Karma. If we do something bad to someone, later on something bad...
