Therapeutic Cloning is the answer to many diseases
The investigation results about Therapeutic Cloning are giving us hope to think that one day diseases like Parkinson, some typesof Cancer and Alzheimer can be cured, and also for some illnesses like burns and organ transplant the time of treatment and results will be better.
Therapeutic Cloning is a procedurein which cells, typically skin cells, are taken from a patient and inserted into a fertilized egg in which the nucleus has been removed. The cell that is created divides itselfrepeatedly to form a blastocyst. Scientists then extract stem cells from it, and use those cells to grow tissue that are a perfect genetic match for the patient, and so reduces the risk ofrejection.
Heart ’patches’ and miniature kidneys engineered from cloned cells were successfully tested in a large animal, the cow, which has an immune system similar to humans. "Theseresults bode well for the future of human therapeutic cloning," said Robert Lanza, Vice President of Medical & Scientific Development at Advanced Cell Technology, Inc.
Newresearch from Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC), Cornell University, and The University of Connecticut shows that Therapeutic Cloning can cure Parkinson in mice, using clonedstem cells to create dopamine nerve cells. Dopamine nerve cells are lost in patiens who have Parkinson.
Therapeutic Cloning is the best option for many diseases, it reduces the risk ofrejection in organ transplant, stem cells can replace different organs, cells and skin, it depends of the patient needs, but it has never been use in humans. So we only have to seat andwait that hopefully, in a near future, scientists can have good results whith tests in humans, because we don’t know if one day we will need this medical technique to save our life.
