Thrill of Hiking

Hiking falls into the category of dangerous sports such as skydiving, extreme skateboarding, bungee jumping, free dive and many more. It’s a sport that can be rewarding and fun,but you have to be careful where you go. A place such as the Grand Canyon in the US has many narrow pathways that can be dangerous either because of some falling rock or animals that live and hidewithin the paths to get some shade. Aron Ralston, the main character from the movie 127 Hours, practices hiking on a frequent basis. In the movie, we can see how careless he was when he set off to hike inMoab, Utah. First of all, he decided to go on the trip alone, second, he didn’t tell anybody where he was going and finally, Aron didn’t have a cell phone or radio or any means of communication withcivilization.
As humans, we practices sports because it’s fun. One of the most important characteristics about sports is being able to socialize and share time with some other people. Even hiking,which can be pleasantly done without the company of somebody, should be something practiced with companionship. This was Aron’s first mistake. He set off to hike into a vast place such as canyon byhimself. If any emergency situation were to happen, he’d be all alone, and that’s exactly what happened. A boulder fell onto his arm and immobilized him for days. Carelessness, and probablyoverconfidence, led him to hike alone which resulted in a problem when he got into the emergency situation.
It’s important to tell people of your whereabouts if you plan to travel alone for if somethinghappens. Our dear Aron also didn’t do this, which to most of us is common sense. As a result, when he got into his sticky situation where he lost an arm, nobody really reported him missing or startedwondering about where was he because he didn’t tell anybody where he was going. His plan failed when he got stuck inside the canyon and not even his parents noticed that he was missing.
