SIMPLE PRESENT
This is a verb tense used to express actions that take place in the present with a frequency determined, namely, every day, every morning, etc.
Thestructure:
Example: Joan washes the dishes every day.
Negative: Subject + do not or do not / does not or Does not + verb in the infinitive action + Complement
Example: Joan does not/doesn’t wash the dishes every day
Interrogative: Do/does + Subject + Verb in the infinitive action + Complement?
Example: Does Joan wash the dishes every day?
PRESENT CONTINUOUS
Is a tense that is used toexpress actions that occur in the present, at the same moment in which this stating the phrase. The Present Continuous is formed with the present of the verb (to) be more of the action verb in gerund (infinitive + ing).
The structure:
Example: Carmelo is washing the dishes right now.
Negative: Subject + is/are + not + verb in the action in gerund + Complement
Example: Carmelo isnot/isn’t washing the dishes right now.
Interrogative: Is/are + Subject + Verb in the action in gerund + Complement?
SIMPLE PAST
It is a tense that is used to express actions which took place in the past, regardless of the time over the past in which they occurred.
The structure:
Example: William washed the dishes yesterday evening
Negative: Subject + DID not/didn’t + Verb in theaction in infinitive + Complement
Example: William didn’t wash the dishes yesterday evening
Interrogative: DID + Subject + Verb in the infinitive action + Complement?
Example: Did William wash the dishes yesterday evening?
In English, there are two types of Simple Past: regular or irregular on. Regular verbs form the Past Simple adding subjective (ed) the infinitive and irregular verbs formtheir Simple Past without following any rules.
An example of Regular Past Simple is the verb (to) wash, whose Simple Past is washed and an example is the irregular verb (to) break, whose Simple Past is Broke
PAST CONTINUOS
It is a tense which express actions that took place in the past, but at a particular time. This tense is formed with the past of the verb (to) be (was or were) + verbin gerund of the action (infinitive + ing)
The structure:
Example: Kenweinne was washing the dishes at eight o’clock last night
Negative: Subject + Was not or wasn’t/Were not or weren’t + Verb in the action gerund + Complement
Example: Kenweinne was not/wasn’t washing the dishes at eight o’clock last night
Interrogative: Was/were + Subject + Verb in the action in gerund +Complement?
Example: Was Kenweinne washing the dishes at eight o’clock last night?
FUTURE WITH WILL AND GOING TO
Various tenses are used to express the future in English
Here we see the future of the verb auxiliary 'will'.
The structure:
affirmative
I will = I'll
You will = ll
He / She / it will = He'll / She'll / It'll
We will ='ll
They will = They'll
negative
I will not = I willnot
You will not = You will not
He / She / It will not = I will not / She will not / It will not
We will not = We will not
They will not = They will not
(contracted form is used when speaking or writing in informal situations)
Will or will not be used for:
